Altrec.com/GreatOutdoors.com in Redmond and Bend Surgery Center were among the winners of the High Country Disposal and Bend Garbage & Recycling Commercial “Recycler of the Year” awards for their efforts in 2008. Nominated by recycling route drivers from High Country Disposal and Bend Garbage & Recycling, the winners are recognized for their recycling efforts.

“Each year, we continue to be impressed with our customers’ recycling efforts and are still seeing an upward trend in our recycling numbers. Another important factor in our review process is that materials collected for recycling are free from contaminants. Our businesses nominated for this award have shown growth in the amount of their recycling, done a great job in keeping materials sorted properly as well as keeping it clean from contaminants,” Brad Bailey, President of High Country Disposal and Bend Garbage & Recycling.

High Country Disposal Spring Clean Up Results

High Country Disposal provided free spring clean-up events to their residential customers in the City of Redmond and City of Sisters. Both events were a big success.

The City of Redmond clean up event resulted in 13.33 tons of miscellaneous waste collected along with 127 large appliances and 38 refrigerators.

The results from the City of Sisters spring clean- up was approximately 315 yards of yard debris, 15 large appliances, 7 refrigerators and 4,000 pounds of miscellaneous household waste.

Both events were sponsored by High Country Disposal.

Memorial Day Collection Schedule

On Memorial Day - Monday, May 25th, High Country Disposal's collection schedule for garbage & recycling will be as usual.

The office will be closed and will re-open on Tuesday, May 26th at 8:00 a.m.

CAN Cancer - Thank You for Your Donations!

In March, High Country Disposal along with other Central Oregon Haulers mailed out a donation request to their customers to help support CAN Cancer. This program was created to provide community assistance for our neighbors battling cancer.

100% of the donation stays local and will help families pay for non-medical expenses such as fuel, travel and food costs. Almost $10,000 has been raised for CAN Cancer and several families have already received help.

FireFree Spring Clean up

FireFree encourages residents to get prepared for the upcoming wildfire season by cleaning up your yards and creating a defensible space around your home.

Saturday, May 16th and Sunday, May 17th, residents can bring their yard waste and debris to the following locations and recycle yard waste and debris at no charge:

Negus Transfer Station in Redmond
NW Transfer Station off Fryrear Road

Free Document Shred Event in Prineville

SecureShred and South Valley Bank in Prineville are partnering to offer residents the opportunity to safely destroy personal documents. The free shred event is Saturday, May 9th from 10:00am - 2:00pm at South Valley Bank, 1570 NE 3rd Street in Prineville.

Documents will be shredded on site and you can watch your documents as they shred through the camera on the SecureShred truck!

The event is intended for private residential document shredding only, not for business or company disposal.

SecureShred offers complete on-site document destruction at your home or business. We also offer walk-in service at our High Country Disposal office at 1090 NE Hemlock Avenue in Redmond. It's affordable, safe and secure!

City of Sisters Free Spring Clean-up

High Country Disposal will provide free collection of yard debris, miscellaneous household waste and appliances on May 5th or May 7th.

Free collection is for City of Sisters residents only.

Collection will be the same day as regular garbage service. All material should be set out by 7:00 a.m. in the same general location as the garbage roll carts.

Bulky waste items include:

• Up to Four yards of Yard Debris and/or Miscellaneous Household Waste. (Four yards = a regular pickup truck filled to the cab).

• Up to Four Appliances

Items that cannot be accepted include: large furniture (i.e. couches), mattresses, tires or hazardous waste.
