City of Sisters Curbside Recycling Results

The first official week of curbside recycling for commingle and yard debris for City of Sisters residents was a big success!

Approximately 70% - 75% of Sisters residents had their commingle roll carts out for curbside collection. 4.9 tons of commingle material was collected in the first week. 63 yards of yard debris material were also collected. The yard debris will be recycled into our signature BioFine and SoilBuilder compost products which are available at Deschutes Recycling.

"We are excited to have the opportunity to offer this curbside recycling program to the City of Sisters residents. We hope that participation numbers will continue to increase and in turn more commingle materials will be collected for recycling and diverted from the landfill", Brad Bailey President High Country Disposal.

High Country Disposal also held its first semi-annual bulky waste cleanup event in October and 38 appliances and 360 pounds of e-waste were collected at no charge to the residents within the City of Sisters. The next event will be scheduled for Spring of 2009.

SoilBuilder Compost Available at Deschutes Recycling

SoilBuilder Compost is now available to help with all your gardening projects. There was such a high demand for our SoilBuilder Compost, that we were unable to keep up with the demand. We had to take the time needed to let our product properly mature so we could guarantee the best quality compost in Central Oregon. And now the SoilBuilder compost is mature and ready to go.

SoilBuilder is perfect for amending soil before planting or sodding, tilling into garden spots, building up mounds for planting and for use as a decorative alternative to bark in all gardening areas.

Compost is a great conditioner for your soil. Compost improves soil structure and increases the soil's water holding capacity. It also provides a fire-resistant ground cover.

Contact Deschutes Recycling at 541.388.1910 to get your SoilBuilder. We deliver and provide compost spreaders for rent.
